Fiona Gowen was born in 1985 in Norfolk. She developed an interest in Art and Design from a young age, when winning a mug in a drawing competition in primary school. She has always been interested in books, and most photos of her as a toddler have a book in them somewhere.
She went on to study illustration at Falmouth College of Arts (now University College Falmouth), where she combined her love of drawing, and books.
Whilst studying, she developed an interest in novelty books, and information Illustration, discovering that she loved making the learning experience fun and enjoyable for children.
She graduated in 2007 with a first class honours degree, and is currently working in London for Information publishers, Dorling Kindersley, where she has worked on many different types of books, from preschool books, to Eyewitness guides. She has done some paper engineering, design, and illustrations for preschool and 5+ projects.
Fiona is also pursuing illustration, and designing websites in her spare time.
